Error code H98: Panasonic Microwave

H98 Error code means Magnetron is faulty or it is not receiving enough power. It can be from one of the 4 following things:

Error Code H98 is mostly appears in Panasonic inverter microwaves. Although it may also appear in some non inverter units The most common causes for H98 error code are faulty door switch, magnetron, inverter and power control board which are all part of the circuit triggering the code H98

  1. Bad/Faulty door switch that does not activate correctly- STEP 1: Trace the power from door switches to control board
  2. Bad/Faulty Relay on power control board- STEP 2: Trace the power from power control board to HV inverter ( or high voltage transformer if the unit is not using inverter)
  3. Bad Shorted Magnetron – STEP 3: Test the magnetron
  4. Bad/Faulty HV Inverter – STEP 4: If all components tested good from STEP 1 to STEP 3, replace the inverter. ( If the unit is equipped with high voltage transformer instead then test HV diode, HV capacitor first prior replacing HV transformer)
